Contoocook, NH winter scene covered bridge

None of our neighbors should have to choose between purchasing medicine, buying sufficient food, or keeping their aging parents, or their children warm.

It is incumbent upon all of us to care for those who need our help.

Journal Entry for First Half 2018-2019- Heating Season

Dear Journal ,

This winter has presented some brutal, subzero temperatures, along with several snowstorms and a Nor'easter to boot. On Volunteer Day, many community hands helped their neighbors get a jump on the freezing cold by donating, cutting, splitting and delivering 25 cords to them by truck. Six cords were stacked for emergency access by all. Another family in town donated 2 cords of wood that we transported to others.

In addition to these 32 cords...

During the 1st half of the 2018-19 Heating Season 24 households assisted with:

  • 6 fuel oil deliveries
  • 9 cords of wood delivered
  • 1 load of wood pellets as a gift
  • 4 propane deliveries
  • 1 kerosene delivery
  • 3 electricity payments

During the 2nd half of the 2018-19 Heating Season, January-April, 28 households assisted with:

  • 8 fuel oil deliveries
  • 9 cords of wood delivered
  • 2 propane deliveries
  • 3 kerosene delivery
  • 6 electricity payments

There have been rewarding moments when we have also been able to help some deserving people in Hillsborough, Warner, Concord, Henniker, Webster, Sutton, and Danbury.

We have also, thankfully, been able to make a donation to one of our churches and to Loaves & Fishes to assist them in their mission to keep people warm throughout cold and hard times. Also, the Contoocook Carry Community Fund has continued to assist the Town's Human Services Department with a donation to its winter Fuel Assistance Fund.

We’ll add our deliveries for the second half of this heating season in late spring.
